Brandon McNulty produced the ride of his career in Montréal, attacking with 33 kilometres remaining to claim victory in the UCI Road World Championships Men Elite Road Race.
From a select leading group, the American launched a perfectly timed solo move and quickly opened a significant gap. With the world’s strongest riders chasing behind, McNulty maintained his composure and continued to extend his advantage before facing a dramatic final run towards the finish.
Despite the pressure from the chasing group, McNulty held firm through the final kilometres and crossed the line 13 seconds clear, securing the rainbow jersey and becoming the 2026 World Road Race Champion.
The victory also continues an extraordinary run for UAE Team Emirates-XRG, with McNulty succeeding teammate Tadej Pogačar as world champion and keeping the rainbow jersey within the team for a third consecutive year.
For McNulty, Montréal marks a defining moment in his career: a world title earned through timing, endurance and an uncompromising solo attack on one of cycling’s biggest stages.
