A unique piece for a unique edition.
Colnago has been granted the license to make the official bike of the Tour de France again this year.
This year we wanted to do something different. We opened a contest where we asked our fans to submit a design that celebrated the Tour de France and its beauty.
We selected the winning design and... made it a reality!.
We chose it for several reasons. Firstly, we wanted to reward the originality of the design. For such a unique piece, we wanted a design that would stand out and make people talk about itself (mission accomplished?). It also reminded us of the design of some historical models, such as the Colnago Ferrari CF3.
Finally, the massive presence of stickers reminds us of the wrapping that is often used on prototypes that need to be road tested to hide their shapes - a perfect livery for the Colnago PROTOTIPO which is in effect... a prototype.
